Revoke admission for dropping a class?

I got into UCLA with
3.8 UW GPA, 4.2 W
2220 SAT 1
750/710 SAT 2
32 ACT
Out of State

In February I dropped a second semester class, Sociology. It was a class that was only for second semester and only worth 1/2 credit, non-honors as well. I'm still going to graduate and everything and I'm doing pretty well in the classes I'm taking. The classes that I am currently taking are:

AP Chemistry (Double Period)
AP Calculus AB
Honors Japanese 3
Honors English 12

Do you think that UCLA will revoke my offer of admission for dropping the Sociology class? Would they possibly just tell me to either take up the class now or make a substitution? UCLA is my top choice and I'm going to be devastated if they revoke.

You should be fine - but make sure to tell UCLA immediately if you haven't already or it could come back to bite you in the @$$

Tell the UCLA admissions office as soon as you can... After that, you should still remain admitted because as you said, you're doing well in the rest of your classes.

Well I went ahead and filled out the form last night. I was able to put in my first semester grades (all A's), so I'm hoping that Sociology won't make much of a difference. I would imagine that I won't hear back from them this week due to all the people trying to appeal/complaining, but about how long do you think it will take?

I personally think you will be absolutely fine... last year, I had to drop AP US Gov't (my schedule was overloaded, though I was still doing very well in all classes), and told them immediately...and they said it was fine. So no worries for you.

As for how long it might take, I recall getting a response within 1-2 weeks.

Thanks, you are all very reassuring!

inflatablecheez,

did you take any other class as your replacement for AP Gov?

No, I didn't take another class...dropping the class just allowed me to have a lunch (my schedule had originally been 8 classes a day, 6 of which were AP, with no breaks...pretty intense).

as long as you have taken something else to fulfill the a-g requirement. But i think the req was only 2 years right?

Well I got an email back from UCLA today, and they said there was no problem! I'm pretty relieved and I can finally relax now that I'm really in my top choice school. I can safely say that I'm going back home to Southern California :).
