I’m a senior in high school and recently got accepted to uw Seattle. Yay! I’m in a program called running start where you take classes at a community college with or without a class or two at highschool. I’m taking ap calc and I got a B first semester but am pretty worried about getting a C this semester… I’m really struggling in this class and am not expecting a good score on the ap test… Would this be enough for uw to take back their decision?
(Btw I do well in my community college classes. So far I’ve gotten 4.0 in my past 6 classes!)
hiya @whiterock5 !! congrats on your acceptance UW actually just sent out an email to admitted students to address student concerns with rescinding acceptances. as long as your senior year gpa stays at a reasonable place both semesters and the rigor of coursework can explain any lower grades, you should be okiedokie!
in case you didn’t receive the email yet, here’s what it said:
"“Will the UW rescind the offer of admission?”
Just as in the admissions review, the Office of Admissions reviews the final transcript holistically, looking at many factors beside GPA (such as how many courses were dropped in the senior year, failure to satisfy Math CADRs, inaccurately reporting grades/courses).
Just looking at GPA, if an admitted student’s senior-year grades are above a 2.70, that should uphold the offer of admission. Below 2.70, and we review on a case-by-case basis.
Here are two examples that show how a holistic approach works:
• We rescinded the offer to an applicant with a 3.96 GPA through grade 11. The student’s first- and second-semester grades in senior year were 3.81 and 0.81, respectively. Even though the cumulative GPA was a 3.44, the senior-year cumulative GPA was 2.31.
• We admitted an applicant with a 3.52 GPA through grade 11. First- and second-year semester grades in senior year were 3.62 and 2.70, so the senior-year cumulative was above 3.10. What caused us to rescind the offer was a combination of low GPA in the second semester AND withdrawing from Art, Photography, Sr. English, Pre-Calculus, weight training, and AP Biology."
