Rhetoric 1b for summer session a good idea?

Is it a good idea? Is it hard? Do we need to master 1A to do well in it?

I'm a newly admitted freshman for fall, btw
thx

Slow down there, turbo. You might want to enjoy this summer.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Summer school is actually a lot of fun. Usually the grading isn't so hard in summer school but it's going to depend on who is teaching it (a grad student will be teaching it).

Everyone I talked to said to enjoy the summer after senior year, because it's going to be your last "free" summer.

thats the class im taking too... im taking it for credit no credit so im not worried about not passing

I'm not going to disagree with this. But let me offer some upsides to summer school for pre-freshman.

First of all, if you are staying in the dorms, you are going to have a lot of fun. Everyone is there to have fun. There are people from all over, it's a great way to meet people you'd never get a chance to interact with.

Second, it might let you have a lighter load first and second semester of your freshman year. Take a lot of stress off you you, perhaps. I also recommend a light load first semester freshman year, and this makes that possible for a lot of people.

Third, it lets you get a feel for Berkeley, the campus and the city. Ease into things a bit before the hectic freshman season starts.

Summer classes are relaxed, people are generally less stressed and more open.

If you can take it P/NP, even better. I don't know if you are allowed to take R1B P/NP or need to take it for a grade.

Good points. I chose to take a light load during my freshmen year and offset it by taking summer session after. Personally, I was in no mood to work after senior year, haha.

You can't take R&C classes P/NP if you're in L&S. If you do you'll have to retake it since to graduate you must get at least a C- for both R1A & R1B.
