Rhetoric R1B, AC course, and a couple of other scheduling questions

Because all the RCB courses that I wanted to take were full, I signed up for Rhetoric R1B, but I heard that it’s a really hard class. I am not too great at reading or writing in general, and I’m kind of scared that it might hurt not only my GPA but also my experience as a freshman starting at Cal. (I want to improve on my writing, though)
I am waitlisted #2 for another RCB course that I really wanted to take (17 people per class) but the waitlist is manual, so I might not get into the class.

My question is, is it likely that I will get the RCB class Im waitlisted for?
And should I drop the rhetoric class and sign up for an AC class instead?
I am willing to work really hard in that class but then I worked my butt off in high school ap lit class too…

Getting in the class from waitlist #2 is indeed likely. Just show up for each class and it’s done.
The difficulty of the R&C class comes down to how the instructor handles it and how much you find the subject exciting.
The R&C class is meant to help you to improve greatly in your reading and writing skills, so there is no need to be scared already.
The rhetoric class might be just the subject for you and/or could be easy.
If you notice you’re not gonna enjoy the topic or the instructor, then get out of it. You have a full 2 weeks to decide if needed.
