I would like the opinion of some current Rhodes students about the Greek system at the college. I am strongly considering Rhodes, but the only thing that is holding me back the influnence of the Greek life. Is it possible to choose not to be involved in the Greek system, or do you become an outcast? Also, how much influence does it have on campus?

Hey just wanted to bring this up...I'm curious as well

My son is currently a sophomore at Rhodes. He decided to join a fraternity last spring, his roommate opted not to rush. They are both happy with their decisions. The Greeks at Rhodes are very inclusive, lots of non-greeks at parties. My son is still living with his original roommate from freshman year and his joining a fraternity has not been an issue at all. I would not worry about the Greek system at all. If you want to be a part of it, fine, but if not that's fine too.

Same thing with my D's roommate. They are planning on rooming together next year, too but D is in a sorority, roomie is not. No problems at all. A real plus for the "no greek residential properties" rule. I think that may lead to segregation while the way Rhodes does it leads to inclusiveness.
