Ribaya for LS4

Hi, I might take LS4 with Ribaya over the summer. Does anyone have any comments about this teacher? Good or Bad?

Thanks

have him right now. so far so good. :)

bump this thread after monday to see if my opinion changes....(midterm on monday)....

bump...how was the midterm vtecaddict?

a little too long, but mostly pretty fair. i didnt get a couple questions but i didnt study enough. being good at stats and logic helps.

pretty good professor overall. probably the best i've had in the LS series. him being young helps a bit, since you're not sitting there listening to some old fart yammering monotonously.

also, he's from san jose (went to bellarmine), so theres sort of a subconscious norcal connection ;)

Thanks vtec. I'm a little nervous because this will be my first class ever at LA.

That's cool that he went to bellarmine..yay for private school! haha

VTEC, any update after finishing the course with him? (i.e. how was the final? overall impression after the session finished?)

sooo long ago.

i think i remember the final being pretty fair though. overall he's a pretty good professor.

is reading the book necessary to do well in his class? I have him for LS3.

for me, I felt the LS4 final (session C) came out of nowhere, and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. The midterms were like a step up from the problem sets, but the final was like 10 steps up haha. I didn't even attempt several problems, so I was very surprised to end up w/ a B when I was borderline B/C. Either everyone did bad and the curve was low or they were very gracious w/ grades. Book wasn't really helpful, it was mostly the lecture notes. I will say he is a nice guy though, and if you don't understand, he is very friendly/helpful. The 1st midterm was very doable w/ moderate studying, 2nd midterm was tougher. Genetics can get pretty confusing and it could have been a lot harder I guess but his class was OK.

yeah....i have a really bad memory so dont put a lot of weight on my comment. :D

bumps thread

which quarter does ribaya teach for ls 3? ls 4? has he ever taught ls 1?

what about thomas?
