Hi, have any one you taken Ribaya for LS3, are his midterms hard and what did they focus on, experiments? How can I check if there are old midterms at the SRC? PS Where is the SRC lol

you should have seen the freakin lin midterm....class average was like 63 and he said that was one of the highest he's had

u serious? how. lol what kind of questions could Lin ask to make a 65 avg.... maybe i should study harder today lol

I had ribiya last quarter for ls 3. This class ****ed me off. I mean the material wasn't hard, but the test was harder than necessary. But i suppose it's the ls series so they're gonna have to weed people out by making it harder. some of the questions were badly phrased and stupid. The first test average was a 73 which isn't too bad. Yes he focused a lot on experimental techiniques (sds page, western blot etc) so really know that stuff. And he tends to ask critical thinking questions to make you think, so know your stuff inside and out. His final is cumulative, but it wasn't too bad. It was very long and he still tested you on all those detailed dna/rna transcription factors. Good luck on your first midterm. I hear it's this week.

Thanks for your reply! For Ribaya's midterm, like you said I heard he focuses a lot of the techniques like SDS page and blotting etc. Does he do so in a very vague way like what would you do to solve this research problem? or is it more detailed and less complicated? Im afraid that I know the techniques but will not get how to use them on the test... eeek Thanks!

I only touched the book once...

How will I fare for Ribaya's midterm? I don't have time to read the book and I doubt many do. Are the lecture slides enough?

Don't worry, you don't need the book. The book is too detailed anyway. Ribaya's midterm goes off his slide anyway. I only used the book for reference to things on lecture that i don't understand and I still did ok on the test. Good luck guys.
