Ahh how I miss last year and all the excitement over apps and decisions. The Facebook stage is also great. Good luck guys, eager to meet some of you in the spring for Owl Days. :D

When does Rice ED results come out?

ED applicant from Oklahoma! Anxiously awaiting decision…it is so soon!
Good luck to everyone applying!

Hey guys, G’luck to all y’all who applied ED. I can’t believe the forum is so quiet, maybe just because it’s a pretty small school. Regardless, can you guys please post your stats and whether you’re admitted, deferred, or denied; just to help me see what I’m up against for next year :)

Thanks guys

I applied ED. Could we be expecting results as early as tomorrow? Or is it usually on the 15th?

^ It depends on the year. It has come out early in the past, although there isn’t a set date or time.

^^^ A year from now I’ll be a nervous wreck.

Apparently this year the decision will not come early, it will go out on the 15th because they are still making decisions… that is what the admissions officers said.

the acceptance/rejection letter comes in our emails right?
not through the ester account?

Nervous wreck is an understatement and I think I am more nervous than my D who claims to be VERY, VERY nervous!

Yea the decisions are going to be released “the evening of the 15th,” and Rice will notify us by e-mail.

Prospective transfer student here. Does rice recalculate your GPA if you come from a university at which traditional (90-100=A and so forth) calculation is used? I need to know because I have exempted a final that could bring my “A-” to an “A,” but I’m not sure if it’s necessary.

@Lestrygonians - I’m not sure, I would email the admissions office if I were you.

Does the paper stuff come on the 15th too? Or is it sent on the 15th? Also, would everything, such as financial aid potential package, etc, be on the email/online or is that all through the mailed package?

All you get in the email is the actual decision letter. The rest of it comes later. I’m not sure whether they mail the packets on the 15th or later, but you can expect to receive them within a few days of receiving the emailed decision depending on where you live.

Lestrygonians - Send them the scores as-is. They will evaluate it as needed and convert it, if necessary.

@subzero - IIRC, they mail it so that it starts arriving on the 15th. It depends on how far you are.

So, they snail mail the letter in an attempt to have it arrive starting the 15th and they email later in the day on the 15th (is there a specific time?) - do they also update the ESTER account with decision on the 15th?

^^ I think so. I expect you will get the email and the same time anyways.

They will be on esther after 5 p.m

Looks like my plan for a sneaky surprise if the news is good, will be impossible - that’s okay - will send the balloons to school the next day anyway (hopefully)
