Rice and Art?

Out of all of my choices, I love Rice as a school the most. The academics impress me. I feel the atmosphere/environment best suits my personality and what I am looking for in a college experience.

I am most concerned though over the art department. Does anyone have any insight over it? I am interested in design and perhaps pursuing further studies in it in grad school. Rice does not offer instruction in design. I also love the humanities, which I feel Rice would be perfect for, though I don't know if careerwise, that is what I want to do.

Any comments/insight would be appreciated. :)

I have only taken one class in the arts department- Photography I. I loved that class and the prof was excellent. I don't really have much more experience. Here is a link to our professor evaluations that we turn into at the end of each semester http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~reg/course_eval/#scanned They are excel files and you can look at the Art classes to get an idea of how we rate them (they are listed as ARTV).

http://sa.rice.edu also has a course guide with some reviews.

You can use this link http://courses.rice.edu/admweb/swkscat.main?p_term=200810 to look up the course numbers because the excel sheet only provides the course number without the name.

Hope that helped.
