So to summarize the Rice/Baylor app you basically need to say why you are a good fit for their program and why you want to go into medicine .... Well for the Common Application there is a short answer that asks "With the understanding that the choice of academic school you indicated is not binding, explain why you are applying to that particular school of study.".... I am doing Natural sciences as a result of what I want to do in the future, hence the Rice/Baylor app.... Now can I reuse most of the the same essay for it? I cant understand what else they might be looking for in the common app question (the readers of the Rice/Baylor App) if I am applying to their med program. And this is assuming they read both applications. (They do right?)

well it depends. if you say you want to medicine because you like science, then you could probably use it (but word it a little differently, maybe). but if you went into medicine for other reasons, then it might not be appropriate because you can be pre-med with any major...
and yea, rice reads your baylor app too (from what i've read on this site)

Heh, I know a bunch of Rice-Baylors (I spend every day with one of them). You've got to talk about more than an interest in science. Really, I hardly even see a correlation between that and medicine. An interest in science has much more to do with research potential.

Johnny Bear, I talked about how my experience with community service spurred my desire to work in the medical field... Does that cut it?

oh yeah i definitely have much better reasons than just love for science. That was just the start. But would it be okay to include these "other reasons" in the essay for the school of study? Basically, are you yourself reusing any of your "what motivated you to apply to Rice/Baylor" essay for the "why this preferred school of study" essay? That is if you are doing Natural Sciences or something that makes sense...
