i dont know anybody who has every gone to baylor/bcm but that's probably because no one knows about it at my school. im pretty sure it's obvious to see that rice/baylor is significantly harder to get into though. however, i know two people who got into rice/baylor and they had some amazing stats. jenskate1, correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't you in rice/baylor? i think i remember reading that in some other thread. anyways, im jealous of you :).

yeah, i am. it's pretty sweet.

jenskate what were your stats?

quick! The Rice/Baylor app is mail only, right? How are u guys completing it? Are you printing your answers then taping it on there, or are u copying and pasting the text of the questions into word?

who wants to read my "greatest adversity" essay? only people who have submitted their apps please.

bump...
another question: does programming games on my calculator qualify as a non-academic activity? or would I be better off writing about my treehouse?

and what about tutoring?

write about the one you feel most strongly about.

There's also a program for Baylor Medical School through UT Pan-Am

Acceptance to the Premedical Honors College (PHC) provides conditional admission to Baylor College of Medicine upon completion of undergraduate requirements at UT-PA. The conditional acceptance requires students to maintain a 3.4 minimum GPA (on a 4.0 scale), and a 3.1 science GPA, and to score a minimum of 27 on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) with no section less than 7.

wow those are low standards.

hows the baylor/baylor program easier to get into?! they only accept 4 people instead of 15 (Rice/Baylor)???

i'm wondering the same thing as kunnel_25. shouldn't it be equally competitive at any school since Baylor ultimately makes the decisions and they're not going to favor applicatns from one school over another?

the ut-pan american is for people from south texas only. and ok well you see, not many people are aware of the baylor/baylor program. many more people know of the rice/baylor and therefore apply there. im not sure about this, and i dont have actual evidence to back this up, but i just think that rice/baylor is significantly harder to get into simply because of the increased competition.

good point, but don't you think Baylor C of Med would act accordingly because of that, which is why they only accept 4 people from Baylor U? Just throwing some thoughts out there

im not entirely sure what your question is. i think you should apply to the one where you think you have the best shot and where you think you'll be happier.

what is the "ideal" stats for rice/baylor(even though they look for more than grades and SAT...)

hpa10 so where would i have the best shot? is Baylor/baylor really easier? that is the question.
Also, what if I send a rec from a hospital volunteer coordinator, even though the baylor app asks nothing of an extra rec?

I've never heard of residency restrictions as far as the UTPA program goes, I've been to their presentation 3 times and they haven't mentioned anything of the sort.

^ look here :

Bacc/MD programs - Medical School - Baylor College of Medicine

it says "Applications are restricted to South Texas High School students,..."

john, i honestly don't know where you would have the best shot. im not an adcom but my school tends to send a lot of kids to various bs/md programs and i know a few that got into rice/baylor, so i just use their stats to compare to other applicants. im not entirely sure that baylor/bcm is easier, thats just an assumption. im not too sure about the extra rec either, but don't you get the application to baylor/bcm after acceptance to baylor? im pretty sure they would ask for a rec. would you mind posting your stats?

for the extra rec, i'm talking about Rice/Baylor (they don't need an extra one). I honestly haven't looked too much into baylor/bcm since I only found out about it through this forum, but if the deadline for that is Feb then i have some timee still
