Going to HPME. In terms of med programs, accepted to USC's Bac Md and was called to interview for Rice/Baylor (could not go because of car accident... they would not adjust for my excruciating circumstance so I figured I probably would not want have wanted to go somewhere like that anyways...) Made it to other top regular schools (stanford, etc).

SAT I: 1590
IIs: IIc 800, wr 780, chem 770
GPA: 4.0 uw, 4.4 w
Big public school.
ECs: Debate capt (2 yrs, outstanding perf on natl level, etc), Varsity Basketball (3 yrs), Science club, Math club, bla bla bla. Leadership positions in many clubs.
Research: Summer fellowship at Big University, NIH scholarship
Awards: Numerous awards on the state and national level for achievement in math and science. Boy's State, Leadership camps, bla bla bla

In my opinion, the key to making it to one of these med progs is your SAT Scores, grades, and demonstrated interest/commitment to medicine. Id assume the essays are kind of important (in other words, be conservative and don't think that off-the-wall creative essay will get you in --> I doubt it will). Interview is also integral; if you are normal this works in your favor, if you are weird than pretend to be normal.

Good luck.
