Out of these schools: Rice, Brown, and Texas A&M CS Honors Program, which has the best anthropology program, and which is the best education for my buck (that involves anthropology)?

Thanks!

bump up this post!

Man, that's some spread. Rice in central Houston, residential colleges, super academics. Brown in central Providence, very liberal, off beat, no core, cold. TAMU in College Station, major college sports, more traditions than trees, etc. All very different.

Rice is a best buy for top twenty privates at about $35K. Brown is now around $43K plus travel. TAMU is state school pricing, but not particularly cheap living. Why don't you email the Anthro departments at each and get a conversation going?

Aren't they all going to say that they have great programs?

My personality fits Brown, but I don't know if I'd get in based on rank and transcript (like 2 Cs).

1) Don't go to A&M because UT is so much better, and I doubt there are parties there...you'd be a hermit.
2) Brown is retarded=no top 10 percent= no good law school.
3) Go to Rice because Asians like Rice!

But still go to UTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brown has the best anthropology program, but Rice has the best value. Don't go to A&M.

I disagree. It depends a great deal on what you want to do within anthropology. TAMU has the best underwater archaeology program in the nation; the only other university that comes anywhere close is ECU. Brown's anthropology program is decent, but it's not a top program.

I strongly, strongly advise you to take a look at Wesleyan. The atmosphere is about as close to Brown's as you can get, and their anthropology program is top-notch (easily on par with anthropology departments at many top universities). They offer a BA/MA, which is something to consider if you want to go into anthropology as a career.

I would like to be a lawyer, but anthropology interests me.
