Rice Class of 2017 ED/RD Discussion Thread

Wait listed…

Accepted also. 36 ACT, NMF, etc but not awesome ecs
I really hope merit awards haven’t come out yet! Rice was less generous than my other schools, sadly.
Also, does anyone know about their NMF $? I had seen before somewhere that they give a small amount (2k maybe?) but can’t find it on their website anymore.

Accepted. FA is not as great as I had hoped.

Rejected from my side… probably wouldn’t have attended anyway… but still bumbed as until now I have only one acceptance…

Good luck to everyone for Ivy Day (and around there)

Congrats to everyone accepted and waitlisted… sure you all deserve it and best of luck elsewhere

National Merit scholarships were $500/semester this academic year.

Yayyy! Rejected!

Rice used to give $2K for NMF, but this year is the first year I believe that they took that away, so we don’t get anything unfortunately. But there is still the actual National Merit Scholar Award, which I believe will be awarded to certain finalists up until June and that’s $2500.

thanks, ladyengineer!
if I do attend Rice, I believe that the $1k/year would basically just eliminate my workstudy, and hopefully not cut into my parents’ grant?
correct me if anybody knows better

Accepted! Under the financial aid tab, it says “No award information is available for you at this time” and the “Award Overview” tab is blocked. Does anybody else have this?

I have that

Yes. Rice cuts outside scholarships by:
-loans
-work study
-rice tuition grant
-other institutional grants

Did you apply for any type of financial aid? If not, it may be that you did not receive any merit aid. If you applied for financial aid, are all your requirements done?

We didn’t apply for FinAid. No tab for it in Esther. So no way to check awards.

I haven’t heard back yet:(
