•Weaknesses: Test Scores
•Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I honestly have no idea. Compared to everybody else who is applying, I don’t stand out much! But I am so humbled and excited by this amazing opportunity!
•Where else you are applying or have already applied: My questbridge list went: Columbia, University of Chicago, Brown, Rice University, Vanderbilt, University of Notre Dame, University of Pennsylvania, Northwestern,

General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: It hit by complete surprise that I was able to match to any college let along Rice University. I believe everything happens for a reason and all of you hardworking, bright people will find the right place for yourself even if you have to go through a roller coaster to get there. Don’t give up, keep up the hard work, and above all believe that anything can happen!

Congratulations, @mekediaa‌! That is great news!

Thank you!! I hope to see you there @owl2019

@owl2019 being deferred is said to be a “nice rejection” :frowning: i heard its WAY easier to get in from wait list than from being deferred… so i would rather take the rejection. omg no please no though [-O<

@SuperLaker Decisions of international applicants will be released at the same time as decisions of domestic applicants.

@Rice3579‌ I’m really interested in reading your Why Rice essay.

In my opinion, getting deferred would be more of a confidence booster than getting rejected. They’re pretty much saying “hey, you’re not the worst applicant!”

@owl2019‌ I would hate to be deferred because one of the main motivating factors for me to apply early decision was to get the decision earlier. Waiting until Friday is torture enough, but I definitely couldn’t wait until April. It also means that I worked hard to turn my application in early for nothing.

Well I certainly hope you get in then. Good luck!

@KelseyDesmond‌ wondering why a native Houstonian would choose Rice?

@Rice3579 - why not? I am not one, but I knew quite a few who liked Houston, planned on staying in Texas and appreciated being able to see their families every couple of weeks.

@jellyworld135‌ - I disagree. Deferred simply means you are reevaluated against the RD pool. Getting in off the WL is very dependent on how many people commit to attending Rice and could potentially have 0 people clear the waitlist.

My moods currently fluctuate between panic and excitement. Literally no other emotions but those right now

@Antarius That’s exactly how I feel! I really hope Rice accepts me. Currently in the same state as @kmackall

@Rice3579‌ No, just got me interested is all. Makes me want to compare.

@Antarius I think @Rice3579‌ was posing a rhetorical question. Since (s)he applied for Rice, (s)he obviously is not indifferent to staying in Houston for college.

getting released tmmrw?

@mekediaa‌, Representing Ohio too? I’m very proud. You’ll love Rice. I as well as the numerous applicants here are hoping to join you! :)

@KelseyDesmond If I get in, I’ll be happy to share with you! It’s mostly about my love for the city and how I think Rice will give me the tools I need to be a vital contributor to the Houston community.

@ucladude fingers crossed!
