****Rice ED Class Of 2022 Thread****

Ah ok, when I look up qb and college all that comes up is football stuff. Thanks for the info!

Does Rice give out any notification on the day they release decision, or do we just have to wait for an email every day at 4PM for the next three days?

Not too sure. Btw why are we assuming 4? and would that be 4 central time? @JenniferFeng2000

@YoLolololol That could mean ED acceptance rate goes to 30% too. Let’s hope anyway.

That’s what was said earlier on the thread. Apprently it’s been Friday afternoons in the past but who knows…would be nice to know but rip

Honestly not too sure how to feel. I always found myself to be a capable student and applicant, but as I see the potential and achievements of others, I kinda shrivel up in dismay. But I guess that’s a lot of applicants.

@Nihilistic29 confidence and positivity my dude

@Nihilistic29 I really relate to that. I just really hope it’s as holistic as they say, and they do judge me on my potential and the context of my life. I’m just worried my world didn’t translate well on paper…

Wow this thread is blowing up. Rice has a relatively low deferral rate so I think even if I don’t get accepted, I’ll take deferral as a slight victory. For the day after I’m going to force myself to go to Great America because it’s probably best I don’t dwell on a rejection and I think doing something to take my mind off of it is better than just laying in bed all day feeling miserable

I was reading the 2021 thread and the accepted students all posted their condensed resume on there… and they are all geniuses… they had perfect SAT/ACT, ten 5s from AP, several 800s, and tons of extracurricular activities that include getting patents for their inventions, bunch of merit scholarship finalists and intel, hundred hours of volunteering, and other stuff… So I’m really doubting myself right now. I don’t know how I can compete with those kinds of people.

@JenniferFeng2000 Yo man. Nothing you can do about your past achievements now. Remember its a holistic review so your essays, perspective, and background pull a lot of weight. What happens is meant to happen, ya know? Can wait to see you at Rice next year ; )

@JenniferFeng2000 ooh shanghai! fancy lol

you wouldn’t know my city though…no one ever does lol. Have you ever heard of Yantai?

@mudbloodforlife Of course I’ve heard of Yantai. it’s in ShanDong, right? I heard it’s beautiful.

@justwant2gradu8 are you from the bay area by any chance?? i go to lynbrook

@paulnguyen12 Oh cool! I go to harker

Some info I found on another thread
Thought id add it here and tweak it some so the time zones are all CT and the days of the week are also listed

2016 (December 16) 4:00 CT (Friday)
2015 (December 11) 4:00 CT (Friday)
2014 (December 12) 4:00 CT (Friday)
2013 (December 16) 11:00 CT (Monday) (There were some problems getting Cali acceptance letters out)
2012 (December 14) 11:00 CT (Friday)
2011 (December 15) 4:00 CT (Thursday)

Sooo going off this my best bet is Dec 15th at 4:00 CT (Friday) unless they have problems like in 2013
After looking at this I think the Rice admit office must laugh at kids when they call rip haha

OK RICE FAM. I asked my friend who applied rice ed last year and she said they never sent and email saying when the admissions would be released. “It just appeared on the portal one day” – lucky friend who got admitted to this wonderful school

what a community we’ve built on here! I’m proud of us. Regardless of if we get in, know that I’m supporting you all and proud of everyone’s efforts on here. Go us for being so passionate! (also rip us because our RD apps are due in a few weeks)

If it helps ease any of y’alls frantic minds out there I was also checking these forums every day when I applied ED last year. You’ll get an email from Rice saying your application has been updated or something and you click a link from there to see if you were accepted. Cheering for you all and hope to see you on campus.
