what are the stats for rice ED women in engineering? (from houston)

???????????

ED, I think it's ~ 15% admissions...
I don't think they take into account that you're engineering (at least, too much...)
From Houston, that may hurt a bit because Texans' acceptance rates are lower than out-of-state students...
And I don't think that they'll really take your gender into account.

I think that the only way "female in engineering" will help/hurt you is if it ends up being a situation where they're trying to choose between you and another candidate, specifically, and then it could go either way, depending upon what they need to round out the student body.

Okay, now everyone start correcting me, since I'm kind of guessing here! =)

OP's looking for handouts.

About being from Texas hurting stats, I believe the acceptance rate for students from Texas is 17%, versus 41% for out of state. At least that's what I think I read somewhere...

Many of the out of staters are the HYP crowd who view Rice as a good alternative to paying 45k per year at HYPS, Duke, etc. Top NY and NJ students have discovered Rice, and many who are not Ivy obsessed are applying as a second choice to the HYP lottery. Two factors affect the acceptance rate for out of staters. First, they have self-selected and tend to be very well qualified. Second, the anticipated yield might be lower so the acceptance rate is bumped a little.

What does HYP mean?

Harvard, Yale, Princeton
