Is it any good. Its ranked very low in US news survey.

The methodology employed by US News would be better than any biased advice you will receive from this message board. However---here is my take....The program, obviously, is young and has not been able to reach the level of establishment like MIT or CalTech, but I can assure you it is definitely superior to the public institutions in Texas. Engineering appears to be one of the more popular majors and I would think, given Rice's resources, that their avenues for research and mobility are plenty.

I too was surprised to see it ranked below A&M as well as UT-Austin

Yea, I am having difficulty deciding between UT-Austin and Rice...if you find anything else that would be helpful, please let me know

Rice, UT, A&M in that order.

UT-austin seems to be significantly better than Rice according to US News. also most of the faculty at UT comes from MIT, IIT, caltech and other such fine instituitions, where as there are a lot of professors at Rice from UT.

UT seems to be much better in Chemical, Mechanical, BME, architechural, where as rice seems to have an better Electrical and comp sci program.

any body else
