How does a WASP answer an essay question about your "unique cultural heritage" and "life experiences"? I mean, this essay is obviously used for affirmative action, and I know they're expecting some heartwarming story about an immigrant from Mexico becoming the next Horatio Alger, but what could I possibly say to be successful? I'm completely at a loss, especially considering my "unique cultural heritage" comes from very distant relatives who immigrated from Germany over 200 years ago, and who lived in Texas ever since, and how my "unique life experiences" consist of leading a normal, uneventful, boring life in the suburbs.

Then I would talk about my simple life in the suburbs, with a twist of humor, I guess.

Well, do you have any family traditions that your friends don't have? Is there something quirky about your family that you generally hide? Pick something fun!
