I'm the only person I know applying to Rice. Is it easier or harder to get into the Social Sciences school? I'm really hoping I get in!

MDPKV - to be honest, it doesn't really matter what school you applied to within Rice. You can change your prospective field/major before coming/before registering for classes for the first semester. Some people figure that they can improve their chances by applying to a different school, but it's best to honestly state your intentions.

I remember quite clearly how it feels to be in y'all's position! I applied to Rice last year ID and got accepted (and obviously decided to come) :). For the record, the amount of times you check your online admission status has no bearing on whether you get in or not ;P.

Why are you guys posting weighted GPA's? They're irrelevant to everyone else here. They're only valid within a the school the student goes to. Your unweighted GPA and rank would be much more useful.

Anyway, good luck! I got into Rice ID last year and attended Owl Weekend and really liked it. I didn't end up going, but I'm sure I would have loved it.

Social Sciences
