Rice Interview

I just requested an off campus interview today. For those who already got their interviews, do the alumni/interviewer know your application at all? Like do they get to read your application, essays and such before they talk to you? Or do they go in blind?
I had my Dartmouth interview so I have already prepped for this kind of stuff. I just want to know some differences if there is any.
Also, how much weight is the interview?
Thanks!

Interviewers usually don’t get much information from colleges as interviews are only supposed to introduce you to the true feel about the college and get the essence of you, not to formally analyse with a backdrop of given data. Just a general idea about you being the good fit for the college and college being the good fit for you.

According to my interviewer, they don’t know anything about you other than name, contact information, geographic area, and what field of study you’re interested in.

Bring a resume of your academic, extracurricular, and personal experiences and achievements.

I agree in bringing a resume. My daughter brought hers, and handed it to the interviewer. The interviewer then took cues from the resume, and my daughter was ready to talk about it. That made it comfortable for her. The interviewer then told the receptionist (after the interview) to put the resume into my daughter’s file.

Some ED applicants report being contacted by alumni for interviews. I’m bumping this thread from last year as it has lots of useful information especially in the link to the thread posted by @Faulkner1897.
