OMGOSH I'm never getting into this school though. The day of doom came, or my report card came for the first semester of sophomore year. AND I HAVE A...bad grade. As in a C in PreAP Geometry. OHMYGOSH! I'm never getting into Rice..my GPA is going to be a sad, sad 4.03 by the end of the year...UGH. I'm dead. Just take my application and BURN IT so that I don't have to do it. That thing disgusts me. I don't want to go to UT, I want to go to Rice!

PS-I'm overreacting, sorry. Just had to rant. Can somebody from Rice please send me their stats in high school? I need a light of hope.

don't worry, In my sophmore year half way through, I had a C in a PreAp class as well, and my GPA was barely above 4.0, your GPA will improve a lot after the second half of your sophomore year and your junior year, trust me. Try to take the most challenging courses possible.

Wow. What school do you guys go to? A 4.03 is low? Posting stats is confusing with each school doing their grading differently. What is the highest possible gpa you can get? Good luck..

i dont understand how you can get a C and still have over a 4.0 avg...

i had all As, and i took all APs, etc, and i only have a 4.0..granted our school is on a 100 pnt system and only convert to 4.0 scale when necessary..but still...

one 'C' wouldn't keep you out of the running! AND --- it's only a 1st semester grade- if you boost it up the second semester it will look v. good.
You a sophmore - Do not freak out.

You might even change your mind. I mean from the time I was in 6th grade until the start of senior year I was absolutley convinced that I wanted to go to Georgetown. It was my dream school and I could not see myself going anywhere else. Than like overnight I decided I didn't want to go there and that Rice was a better fit. Bascially what I am trying to say is don't worry so much about college when you are still an underclassman. Get good grades but have some fun as well. You are going to change soooooo much between tenth and 12 grade. Or at least I did....

I agree with pilebay. When I first looked at Rice about a year ago I didn't look twice at it because I thought that "I'd never go to that school." However now that I've looked at more colleges and talked to more students from these different types of schools, Rice is my first choice.

It's great to have a dream school and have everything planned out. But, you want to be prepared to change your plans, and you definately need to have an open mind and consider ALL your options before you settle in on one thing.

I agree soo much with pilebay and kathryn07. I didn't care about Rice at all before end of Junior year. I had my heart set on Columbia. Summer after Junior year, I went to summer school that was on the Rice campus & I completely fell in love with the school.
Have you ever visited Rice? If you're in Houston, I recommend visiting and see if you can really see yourself at Rice. Visit other schools too because you really cannot get a good feel unless you visit.

Also, one C shouldnt make a difference but make sure that doesnt become a norm. Plus an upward trend looks good.
