Hey i heard a rumor that rice doesn't take any more than one applicant from each high school...is that true?

at my school in southern california, last year three ppl applied, one got admitted, but that person didn't go.
aren't there houston area high schools who have 3 or 4 Rice matriculants?
do you mean one applicant per admission plan (one for ED, one for ID, one for RD) or one applicant for all decision plans?

Two individuals from my high school were admitted under ED.

My suitemate has like 10 people from her high school here, and there are some high schools with more. My high school had at least 3 accepted students last year (but I'm the only one attending). So basically, the answer is that the rumor you heard is just plain wrong.

I have no idea. There's two people applying from my school. I appied ID, the other RD.

My school has like, six or so a year.

my school had 16 last year. and over 10 every year, usually.

Not that I doubt that the rumor's wrong, but ngs, llama, and jenskate's suitemate, or youse others who had a ton of people go to Rice, are you guys Texas residents?

Hardly anyone at my school has even heard of Rice. Last year one of the valedictorians applied and was accepted, though she ended up going to Northwestern for some reason.

And I'm the only applicant from my school this year.

hey emilia, i'm the only applicant from my school as well.

Oh. Good point. I go to a pretty competitive school in Austin. Just to give y'all an idea, I know for sure that we have at least four 1600s in my grade.

llamapyjamas,

Which school are you attending? Westlake?

Lol. Close. Westwood.

My suitemate went to school in TX. But I went to school in NY and they accepted at least 3 from my school.

Yeah, we're one of the top schools in the Houston area. Rice is familiar with us so...that would explain it, huh. Just about all the top 10% apply to Rice...like a formality or something....

ngs, now you're making me nervous....:p

ngs,

Which school in Houston are you attending? I am a Dulles alum.

Clements, though the numbers fluctuate. They've been pretty high for the past two years, so it might drop this year.
