Rice Regular Decision Notification Date

Does anyone know when the regular decision applicants will be notified of admission? Thanks!

by april 1

It is usually a few days early, right. Has anyone heard the exact date?

I don’t know, but DS just found out that he’s been picked to be an O-week adviser again this year. He’ll be there to help you new students get settled in, come August. :)

And if he’s anxiousmom’s son, he’s got to be an ace O-week adviser!

The waiting part has to be the hardest part of the admissions process.
What are you doing to make the days go faster?

WorldQuest’s coming up – and maybe prepping for it is keeping some folks distracted.

Sports practice, working in a lab, editing news stories, painting, robotics, starring in a play? Any suggestions could make it easier for other seniors here …

How do they notify you? Snailmail? email? Login to their website? Owl?

I’m pretty sure it’s through ESTHER, but I have no idea!

They’ll notify you first by ESTHER. You would have to catch it in time, though. I kept checking ESTHER and then I happened to be on the site when they posted the decisions. An hour later or so, they sent out an official notification via e-mail. Then a few days afterwards came the snailmail.

^^Thanks…so I guess there’s no owl?

Judging by last year’s threads, decisions were released on March 23. Hopefully it will be earlier this year…

lol…Can you explain to me the concept of the owl?

^^From Harry Potter:

[harry potter owls - Google Search](<a href=“harry Potter owls - Google Search”>harry Potter owls - Google Search)

and Rice University:

[rice owls - Google Search](<a href=“rice owls - Google Search”>rice owls - Google Search)

^^Well yes, I know that the Owl is the Rice mascot. But I’m wondering what role the owl would play in the notification process. Wasn’t there some other university that used the concept of displaying their mascot upon logging in if you got accepted? Is that what you mean when you ask about the owl?

I’m pretty sure he/she is drawing on the idea of “owl postage” from Harry Potter… suggesting that Rice would send out admission decisions via owl postage.

lol… fail allusion :</p>

Ah okay LOL thanks for the clarification! I definitely failed to connect the dots. Sorry, bird rock lol
Now that I know, no. No owl.

Yeah, I just assumed that everyone applying to college now read the Harry Potter books as a child and every parent here read the Harry Potter books to his children. BTW I’m a he, but once in a while my wife uses the same login.

Hahaha not me  (obviously)

OK - I’m ignorant… what is ESTHER?
