Rice Steamer

Someone had posted a link to a very nice looking microwave rice cooker several months ago on one of the threads. I looked at the site intending to buy one later to send with DD for the dorm room. Now I can’t remember who posted or what thread. If anyone else has any ideas, I would appreciate them. I think this one was around $25.

I posted this one a few months back, not sure it’s what your looking for.

And this is the pasta cooker I had posted: [Amazon.com: Pasta N More 5 Piece Microwave Pasta Cooker Set with Bonus Cookbook: Kitchen & Dining](http://www.amazon.com/Pasta-More-Microwave-Cooker-Cookbook/dp/B0017VIO36)

Thanks RobD and gojack for reposting. Have you used these? Do they work well for the rice as well as pasta?

I have the Progressive one. I’ve used it for rice, pasta and steamed veggies and it works quite well. I did have to experiment a bit with cooking time to get the pasta to turn out the way I like it, though.

I have been making rice in the microwave for 10 years with just a big glass bowl with a lid.
All you do is put in 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rice, start at 100% power for 5 minutes then reduce it to 50% power for 15 minutes. You can serve right out of the bowl and just have the one bowl to clean. Just in case, you don’t want to invest in a special gadget :)

Moreover - thanks for the timing information. I figured there was a way to do this but I never would’ve figured out the timing / power formula.

My pleasure. Sometimes I heat the water for a couple of extra minutes before putting in the rice for a drier rice. Hope you like the results- I really like having only the one bowl to wash!

DITTO :). S can make it one day and add chicken strips and frozen veges - meal in no time. AND MINIMAL CLEAN-UP.
