Rice Transfer Question

I was rejected from Rice E.D. and I plan on trying to transfer from Emory to Rice....My high school stats were 2200/2400 and a 1500/1600, my high school gpa was 3.8 unweighted with a 4.1 weighted....My class rank sucked, I was top 20 percent....I live in Texas....Should I try to transfer after my first semester at Emory, or should I wait a whole year..I think I can maintain a 3.5 at Emory.....

wait a year

Well, I’m not totally familiar with the difficulty of getting into Rice, so I can’t say whether your stats were good or bad relative to that school.

However, if you feel they were bad, it’d be wise to wait probably a year; the longer you’re in college, the more your college performance will matter than your high school performance. So if you do really well at Emory for a year, that could make up for any weaknesses in your high school stats.

But I’ll emphasize again that I’m unfamiliar with Rice’s standards. I’ll be interested in other people’s replies as I’m also interested in transferring to Rice, although I’d be doing so after three semesters, not one.
