What are my chances at:

-U of Miami accelerated med program
-Wash U accelerated med program
-Boston U accelerated med program
-Hopkins
-Rice
-Baylor-
-Case Western (do they have a med program?)
-Cornell
-Emory
-U of Maryland
-Lehigh
-U of North Carolina Chapel Hill
-Tulane

im not applying to all these places, but i just wanted to see where i stand.

please please reply, thanks!!

Case Western and Rice or Baylor (or maybe both, not sure) have a combined medical program.

One thing that's not going to work in your favour (for the combined med programs) is your lack of medically related experience (although your research experiences are a definite plus!) Also the Chemistry SATII isn't good (I think Boston has Math II and Chemistry listed as the required SATII exams...)

Rice-Baylor Med program is very tough. WashU med program is also very tough. Your ECs, grades, and courses are good, but your standardized tests are what you need to improve. If you can get 700 + in every category in the SATs, I think you have a very good shot and all of those, barring Rice-Baylor and Wash. Rice-Baylor only accepts 8 for their combined program I think, and Wash only 20, from thousands all around the country. How do you like Miami? I think that might be a good fit/match for you. Boston U is also very doable. Just be sure you want to do medicine. I've been down that route. As for the others, I think you have good chances. I believe Case has a medical program, you might also want to look into that. The medical program at Miami also I think is cheaper for in-state students. I'm not sure. But do your research. Things could have changed from when I applied. I do think that you should try for those programs if you really want to and and want to go to Rice or WashU anyways. I don't think there is any extra app fee, just the extra application. Both are great schools. I think you have a shot at them as undergraduate institutions. Just study hard for your SATs and you'll have a really good shot!

for the medically related experience, i forgot to mention that I:

volunteered 2 yrs at a local hospital here.
-volunteered/shadowed a doctor at a Cardiovascular Institute
-volunteered at a small clinic in India working to try and get them the medical attention they needed
-Also, i am continuing my lab research with my professor at UF

but is that good enough for some of the med programs, or do i need more?

also, someone said that i had a good chance at Boston U med program, but I also heard that Boston U is harder to get into that WashU med. any comments?

also, i wasnt going to apply for the Rice/Baylor med program (its waaaaay too competitive and i dont have the scores as of yet), i was just looking at going into either Rice or Baylor's pre-med majors. do u think i have a chance there? i would be considered a houston resident because my dad still lives there.

It's easier to get into Rice from out of state than in-state, so the Houston connection will NOT help you. I think it's because they're looking for geographical diversity.

so does anyone know my chances of getting into the med program at U of Miami? if there are people who applied there or go there now, can u please say your input. I'm really thinking about UM and would love to go there for their medical program. also, if u have any thoughts or comments about some of the other med programs like Boston U and Wash U above, please reply. thanks!!!

I applied there and I actually was invited to an interview, but that didn't go to well. I didn't have nearly the stats you have, but my SAT scores were higher. Which is why I stress that you need to improve your standardized test scores. I think you do have a realistic chance at Miami. They seem to like they want kids from Florida. The program is very good, and Miami's undergrard and Med schools are very strong.

From what I know, the WashU program is much tougher than the Boston U program, and I think you have a good chance at Boston U's, given you improve those SAT scores. Sorry to be a stinker, but your SAT score is what is hurting your chances.

Rice is definitely a good school, Baylor med is good, but for undergrad it isn't much to talk about. They give out a lot of scholarships though.
