Hi guys! I'm sure everybody who applied regular decision to Rice is as nervous as I am.. I didn't know Rice even existed until my junior year, and I fell in love quite quickly! This waiting period is driving me nuts, so I thought we could do an icebreaker to make the time before decisions come out speed by :) okay I'll start!
I'm from Northern Virginia (super close to D.C.), I'd like to major in chemistry, and an interesting fact about myself is that I'm a carrier for sickle cell disease. Uh I also went to Rice Vision 2012!
I'm really excited to meet everyone; go Owls!

Hello! I’m from Illinois near Chicago and I’m planning on majoring in Chemical Engineering.

Nice to see a thread for Rice RD. I’m from Florida and plan to major in Biology. So do we have any idea as to when decisions will come out/how (email, portal, mail)?

From LA,CA area and applied chemical engineering i believe. Cant wait to find out. Hopefully an acceptance. Haha

If you went to vision, I don’t understand why you’re worried about your application. I was invited but chose not to go.

Hey guys! I am from Brookyln, New York and I want to major in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology!

We are from all over the states!

Do any of you know when decision notification happens?

Hey everyone! Born and raised in Oklahoma. Plan on majoring in either Electrical Engineering or Mathematics.

Hoping I can get an acceptance letter, but not so sure. Good luck everyone!!!

Hey guys, I’m actually not applying RD for 2016, but hopefully will be ED for 2017. I just wanted to post to say good luck to all of you, and since I read this forum quite a bit a can tell you that some people have been saying march 20th is when you should start expecting a letter, as that is most likely the soonest they will be out (actually, you will be notified by email). Still, no official date as been said, so any time after march 20th. Last year apparently a lot got sent March 22nd.

Good Luck!

hey guys. I’m from New Jersey and am currently thinking about majoring in political science, although that changes every month. I also hadn’t heard about Rice until my junior year but I’m now completely in love with it. I hope I get in and can see all of you guys at O-week next year.

Hi everyone! I live in NJ but I’m originally from Australia. I want to double major in chemistry and political science (premed.) I absolutely love Rice and I’m really nervous for this decision! Good luck to everyone (:

I’m from Florida, and when I visited for the Vision Weekend, I completely fell in love with Rice. I hadn’t heard about it till a few months before the application was due, and didn’t look into it more than a month just before. But, I really feel like it was one of those things that fall into place.

Good luck you guys… I’m pretty sure I got my acceptance sometime March 20th in the evening. I gotta say, it was probably one of the best days of my life… :)

Hey guys I am from India, planning to major in economics. Cant wait for the decisions to come out! :D

Supposedly emails should be going out in a little over a week. Good luck guys, we look forward to seeing some of you on campus in the fall.

Good luck to all of you guys. I’m from Texas, and I’m wondering how much of a say does the invitation to vision really have? The previous guy that mentioned it made sound like if you were in for sure.

Last year, they apparently essentially told the Vision kids they were accepted… But I don’t think they did the same this year, unless someone can confirm otherwise. I wouldn’t say it’s 100% sure that you got in if you did Vision, but it’s definitely a good sign.

My friend who went said they flat out said you guys were in. I wonder if my rejection of the invitation will make me look bad… oh well. I’m a living experiment! haha

Eh, that’s not entirely true. I know of Visions attendees who were not accepted. But if you were invited to Visions, Rice is spending a lot of time and money on attracting you and a select group of others to their school, so they are certainly interested in having you on campus in the fall. Don’t treat it as a likely letter, but a message that you are a pretty desirable applicant.

I highly doubt rejecting the invitation will make you look bad; people have other commitments or just can’t make it for whatever reason. I think you are just nitpicking and worrying where you shouldn’t be. Don’t stress, what happens happens. (This is coming from someone who was a nitpicking pro when he went through the admissions process last year–trust me, in the end you are just wasting emotion and energy. Relax. )

Hi all. I’m from New Hampshire and am interested in government and the social sciences. I am both excited and supremely nervous to receive my decision; with so many other qualified applicants, I can’t help but expect a rejection. I’m trying to keep my hopes up, though! Who knows, maybe I’ll get in and go to Rice and meet some of you next fall!?

Deserto that would be awesome. And at Visions, it was never explicitly stated that we would get in, although president Leebron acted like we already had…I will be heartbroken if I don’t get in b/c I feel like Rice is perfect for me! And fallenangel I assumed you were a girl…LOL
