Do we know what date the decision is made for ED applicants? says by Dec 15th but do they send notifications before or around that date?
Where does it say that decisions/notifications are due Dec 15th ? Can someone please send me a link - All I see is the below link

I think from Rice website, the decision date for ED is mid of Dec.
I heard that decisions always come out on a Friday. So my best guess is that we’ll hear back on Dec 11th or Dec 18th.
Good Luck to all ED applicants waiting on decisions.
Didn’t they come out on the 12th last year which is the second Thursday of December? That would mean it’s the 10th this year if that trend stays consistent.
They just emailed—decisions coming out Thursday Dec 10 at 5 CST
So does more US applicants mean fewer places for international students? so nervous now
Same, I’m an international student. Could you please share ur stats?
I’m also an international student, but I went to high school in the US. I don’t think just because there are more US applicants, there will be fewer places for international students. I believe they always try to accept a similar number of international students every year, but I’m not sure.
Stay positive. Rice strives to admit a very diverse student body including international students. However, there may be fewer slots in general in the class of 2025 because of students admitted to the class of 2024 that took a gap year. Rice only has so much space to house students.
@Houston1021 - Do you have any numbers on expected first year class size difference this year at Rice compared to a typical year? How many students from Class of 2024 deferred?
I know this year’s HS seniors don’t want to be squeezed out, and are hoping colleges might have a larger than normal freshmen class to accommodate last year’s gap students. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
I don’t know if anyone knows the exact number, but I don’t think a huge number took a gap year. I feel like I remember seeing something like 85% of freshman came to campus in the fall and a decent number chose remote. Some of those remote are coming to campus in spring. But I could be wrong about that.
I suspect Rice will not significantly increase the size of their freshman class mainly due to space in the residential colleges. Unless the new college they are building will house more than typical, I don’t think they will have space to house a significantly larger number of freshman next year. But again, that’s just speculation.
I just found this in a communication sent out at the end of July. Looks like they were expecting about 2% of the students to take a gap year, but that includes students from all grades. This number may have changed but I doubt it did a lot.
“All undergraduate students have completed a survey of their enrollment and residence intentions. Altogether, it shows that less than 40% of undergraduate students will live on campus, and approximately 58% of the total on-campus undergraduate beds will be filled. In addition, 21% of undergraduates will not come to campus this fall and will study in a completely remote format, and another 2% are taking a gap year or leave of absence. Although the numbers could still change, we expect in total about 4,000 undergraduate degree seeking students will enroll this fall, as will approximately 3,400 graduate students.”
Has anyone else had the financial aid portal ask for extra documents recently?
Nope, IDOC, CSS and FAFSA submitted already so not sure if they are asking for any other docs
I didn’t submit anything through the IDOC because it wasn’t a requirement. I just submitted my documents through the rice portal. I also gave in the css. Hope that’s fine.
szaman5. I would call the financial aid office and make sure you do not have to upload documents to IDOC. It might delay your FinAid offer.
Less than a day to go, all the very best to all of the ED applicants here
Will decisions come out at 5pm or some time after?
