I haven’t seen any other threads for Rice University fall 2022 transfer admissions, so I thought I would start one.
Lol by far the most unpopular TOP20 Uni thread
From my understanding, admissions decisions for transfer students are sent out on a rolling basis, with the latest being sent out by May 31st. Has anyone heard back yet? If so, could you let us know when you submitted your application?
I don’t think they will release the decision before May based on previous years
Yes, but I don’t think in the past they did “rolling” admissions decisions.
I’m not so sure about this, I think this depends on the number of applicants. I feel that the transfer threads this year are pretty silent compared to previous year.
Does anyone have any thoughts on why these transfer threads seem so silent?
Yea, really odd how quiet this term seems to be. Even the UCLA and UCB threads seem to be less active than years past. Intuition tells me that just like freshman admissions, we would see more transfer admissions, yet I don’t think that is the case. I don’t have any theory why–I’m puzzled myself.
Also, regarding the rolling thing, I emailed my regional AO and they reiterated the same thing:
“Our review process for transfer applicants is currently underway. We will be releasing admissions decisions on a rolling basis, with all applicants scheduled to hear back by May 31”.
I also know that Rice is looking to expand the size of the university, and from what I can gather, a decent number of people were admitted for the Spring 2022 pool. I would’ve applied then, but I would have had to shoulder a really large cancellation fee for my spring semester housing (a few thousand!) had I been accepted. Would’ve been way too hard logistically to move in the middle of the academic year from St. Louis to Houston with no help since my parents work all the time.
I also applied for WashU this year lol
Statistics from UC indicates that there’s 13% decrease in transfer application for the UC system
For the UCs, transfer admissions have been less busy because of decreased CC enrollment from the pandemic. There are signs of private school transfer admissions being more competitive this year. Northwestern in a school paper article released statistics that 600 more applicants applied for transfer this year compared to last year.
That’s no good D:
Did you guys submit the “Box” image?
Yes!
anyone know when will the decisions come out?
I wish! All I know for sure is that they will be out by May 31st.
They’re going to be on a rolling basis according to their website.
My regional AO emailed me back and he said that the first week of May is the earliest we might hear back.
A friend of mine from the year ahead of me applied to transfer to Rice last year. He said that he did not hear about the decision until May 18th. I’m in the same boat as the rest of y’all, just waiting impatiently LOL
That is so late… Wow.
