Rice University Regular Decision Class of 2025

Good Luck to all getting decisions from Rice today. Rice would be lucky to have you.

Out of the few responses so far, yours is the only one without name calling and finger pointing. Thank you. I was appreciating @Houston1021 response, until the name calling. Even if I agreed with Houston1021, all those wonderful words became tainted. Nobody hears the point when all they see is the finger wagging at them, this is where we find ourselves today sadly.

As for guns, just like most everything else, the media plays to your fears. Guns are in Texas, but Chicago has strict gun laws and some of the highest gun deaths (it’s all about what you hear and believe vs the truth on the ground). There is danger everywhere in today’s society and finger wagging only creates a greater divide. Houston is diversity, inclusion, and one massive melty pot of humanity.

I would argue that Houston is your future across this nation, with some slight racial differences simply due to geography. In 2020, Metro Houston had 7.1 million residents. 2.6 million Hispanic. 2.4 million White. 1.2 million Black. 600k Asian. There are untold amounts of different communities within this Metroplex. Isn’t that where we all should desire to live? Otherwise, stay home and box yourself in to your single-minded beliefs
Red or Blue.

Texas on the whole is becoming Purple. I don’t agree with half of the things happening in my state, and I don’t like half in any of your states, but I can tell you that I damn sure like Rice!

@MackAg, Couldn’t have said it better myself. If you see the current events, the George Floyd case is happening in Minneapolis, not in Houston. There were assaults on Asian Americans in San Francisco and LA. Devin Nunes and Kevin McCarthy, last time I checked are from CA too. I have lived in Texas for little over 6 years now, a transplant from Minnesota, never really saw anyone openly carry a gun. I know many friends who own a gun. I also have many friends in Minneapolis who go hunting every year. I think we have to take everything we see on the media with a huge grain of salt, especially with such hyper-partisan rhetoric coming from the news media.

Rice and Houston are very diverse. In fact, Rice has been ranked #1 on best interaction between race and class. Honestly, there are some pockets in East Texas that might harbor racist tendencies but the majority of the state is very progressive when it comes to race relations.

Truly ND was his number 1 and thankfully he got that. But if that didn’t work, he cast a wide net and the marketing of SWAT was hilarious and compelling. I said it wouldn’t hurt to do a LAC with engineering that is small as an option to consider. So that’s how. Son got first rejection to Vandy yesterday which is ok but I anticipate probably similar for Rice. That makes me sad as I love Rice. But who knows. GL to your son in the upcoming days.

same, can someone who was able to see their fin aid package last night try it and see if they can still access the page?

No, there’s nothing there anymore.

What time do we expect the decision today?

At 5:00 CT.

Y try to hack. Go do some work. Go on a walk. Check at 5P. Then you’ll know.

Just because you do a hack doesn’t mean you’ll know. You won’t know til you see it.

The wait is almost over.

I completely slept through everything about the fin aid package last night, so is there really no way to check now?

I don’t think so

I’d be much more worried about things like this than lib/conservative views of Houston:

Can u guys find ur withdraw button

I live in Houston and honestly the worst thing about it here is all of the natural disasters. It seems like every year, I’m hunkered down in my home reading the news about some other natural disaster. We had Harvey (which literally closed all of our schools for at least 3 weeks), and we’ve been consistently flooding every time it rains since. I’ve probably had school canceled a couple times a year for the past four years due to entire streets flooding.
