Rice University Transfer Fall 2021 Thread

anybody know if we should send spring transcripts too?

If they don’t request it or list it on their website, I don’t recommend sending it

Right. That was a mistake.

if they said rolling admissions by may 31, that only gives 2 more weeks for everyone to find out. so much for rolling admissions

I’m predicting that decisions will release on the 28th! Stay strong everyone, we’re almost there!

Idrc at this point. Theorizing and predicting isn’t gonna do anything for us. They’re gonna come out when they come out, and we will either get it or won’t.

Honestly, I’m just gonna enjoy my free time off that I have from college right now. Lowkey scared that I might forget about decisions tho … :skull:

On my admissions portal, underneath “Your Application Profile” on the right hand side, I’m seeing a new line saying “2021 Fall - Transfer Decision.” I think this is where the final decision will be linked. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t there before but I’m not sure…Anyone else?

I think that line was there before

Awww bummer  Thank you!

I applied to Rice before. There will be a link above the application checklist when decisions are released.

I honestly don’t know how much longer I can wait. I only want to attend rice and I am terrified that I am going to get rejected. Besides, I have payments due for my current college and if Rice doesn’t reply soon I would have to pay over a thousand dollars that can’t be refunded after this week.

Yeah I get that the schools have a lot more applicants this year, but they have to realize that like we can’t wait into June and July to make college plans?

I know it’s hard to do but go in with the expectation you will get rejected. The odds are in no one’s favor (like 10% acceptance rate). You won’t be as disappointed if you get rejected, and you will certainly be surprised if you get in

Have you guys considered the chance that they might not accept any tranfers at all this year? I know they announced they are going to expand the campus and student pools by 25%, but they haven’t started the construction of new dorms yet. That is a 5-year plan. Plus, they might have overadmitted freshmen this year and have to accommodate their housing too. Otherwise, why would they put off releasing transfer for so long when some ivies have released transfer decisions with way more applications? Past years they had released on May 7th, 2nd, and even April 27th. Unless something is seriously wrong with this year’s handling of transfer applications, I don’t see why they have not released the transfer decision already by now. The lack of transparency is honestly super frustrating. People would call admission office every day and keep getting vague responses like “we don’t have an official release date yet”. They clearly don’t care about how anxious this is making us feel. This is very uncharacteristic of Rice’s image of having a strong supportive network, close-knitted community, everybody caring about one another, happiest US college, no.1 student quality of life, etc. Am I being naive and they are just another super exclusive elitist school?

Nah I doubt that they aren’t going to admit anyone this year. They definitely would have said something by now. Honestly, it’s probably best not to theorize a bunch of stuff. They could accept 70 or like 10. None of us know yet. All we can do is wait tbh

You could send in spring transcript however you want, but I don’t think they would look at it because most people would not send it or even finish their spring term. It would be highly unlikely and unfair as well for them to give a better look at your application just because you nailed your spring term if your previous academic record hasn’t been great. If you are waitlisted and you send in your spring grades as supplemental materials, it would be totally fine and they would likely look at it if seats open up.

Would you call rice admission today and ask for decision date? plz lemme know what they say.

Sorry no. If you want to ask, you may

i think you are overthinking way too much. you are going to drive yourself crazy trying to make sense of why decisions haven’t been released yet. we are all in the same boat and the only thing we can do now is wait

is your spring semester over yet? if so, you should take this time to maybe catch up on TV series, movies, or spend time with family and friends. it is easier said than done but worrying about decisions all the time will just eat away at you
