I'm am going into my senior year. Rice is my top choice, but I'm wondering what my chances are for being accepted.

I have a 3.94 unweighted GPA, 4.33 weighted GPA.

My senior year I am taking AP Computer Science, AP Calc BC, AP Stat, AP English Lit, AP US Gov/ Econ, and AP Chemistry

My test scores are not the best, I got a 31 on my ACT (10 on the essay), 1940 on my SAT, 680 biology, Math 2, US History SAT II; 700 world history SAT II; 650 Physics SAT II

Extracurriculars:
3 year girls Varsity soccer (goalkeeper)
13 years Greek dance member
4 years Greek Orthodox Youth Group (officer for 4 years)
5 years Club Soccer (captain for 2 years)
3 year gallery facilitator at Reuben H. Fleet Science Center (volunteer)
2 year Interact club member (officer junior year)
2 years JV volleyball
1 year JV lacrosse
4 years Greek Youth Choir member

Based on your test scores (and Rice’s low acceptance rate), I would say it’s a reach for you. However, if you bump up your ACT a bit - since it’s already within the middle 50% range of scores received by admitted students, you should be fine. If I were you, I would send in the ACT score instead of the SAT and Subject Test scores, as those aren’t as strong.

I’d say it’s a reach as well…Rice has become more competitive over the years. Rice also requires all test scores so you might want to keep that in mind.

I am hoping what they say is true- that they do a holistic review and the scores aren’t so heavily weighted and the Extra Curriculars and community service and essays are ALL very important too! I am wondering are you applying early decision? They say admission is 20% ED and 14% RD I say go for it and best of luck!
