I use to dismiss any school in Texas because of the hotass weather, but now RICE is number one on my list. I pray that I get in.

Rice has close ties to the Baylor med school...closer than Baylor University I believe...

and their 2008 seniors had a 90% acceptance rate into med school

which is in Waco, some years ago.

rice is for those who couldn't get into SMU??? that is ridiculous!

i have never even heard that mentioned nor does it even make sense. maybe that is something that smu people say to build themselves up!??!

Rice is relatively unknown due in part to its size (the second smallest university in Division 1) and because it does not have a medical school or a law school (and does not incur the huge costs required to support them). It does have outstanding graduate programs in business and the sciences, particularly bioengineering, and leads the world in applied nanotechnology. The music school is not just conservatory quality, as MOWC modestly stated; it is top five conservatory quality. The architecture program is second to none.

As to location, not only is Houston a great city but Rice is surrounded by a huge museum district, the world's largest medical complex, and the nation's 2nd largest metro park. All of this and a true residential college system. I wish I were young and smart.
