ive heard from my counselor that something like 85-90% of premeds at each school get into med school? Are the percentages about equal for both schools? and also would there be ANY sort advantage to going to either duke or rice for a prospective biochemistry major looking to go to med school?? im kinda stuck here.

to clarify, you got into both and are picking between them?

How is the financial situation from both?

More research opportunities @ Rice for undergrads. They're both awesome schools; you can't go wrong with either one.

Academically, they are very similar, except at Rice there are tons of research opportunities both on- and off-campus (Texas Medical Center - largest medical area in the world - across the street).

However, the atmosphere at each is VERY different. I was accepted at and visited both, and I found Rice students to be very relaxed, friendly, and accepting. At Duke, people seemed preppy, somewhat judgmental, and elitist.

^there is no comparison between the medical community and research opportunities- Rice wins hands down. Duke’s medical facility is about 10% the size of that associated with Rice. You just have to want that as an undergrad

i got into rice on a half ride and same with northwestern and the ucs. definitely go with rice. it may not have a big city life but they’ll hook you up and take care of you (:
