Hi! I’m debating which school to go to. I’m an asian male in California, looking to do pre med, likely will not party, no financial aid, family income 200k. I don’t know which schools are better for premed, especially in terms of research and internship oppertunities. I am aware that Amherst is not as internship laden as the other colleges, and that UCLA brings large competition and is hard to go pre-med from. Any suggestions?
Rice is located next to the Houston Medical Center. There are internship and research opportunities galore. Rice has a strong pre med advising program and many pre med students. Come visit Rice for Owl Days if you are able. https://oaa.rice.edu/pre-health-professions
Rice is the best choice for you among the three options since you are pre-med.
I’m told by my pre med friends at Amherst that the admission rate to med school from Amherst is over 95%. There are a lot of opportunities for research jobs/fellowships on campus and my friends haven’t had any problems getting internships at major medical centers. You should make your decision based on other considerations - ie: where you want to live, size of college, are you interested in having an open curriculum
