I got accepted to both rice and duke with comparable deals but am finding a hard time deciding between the two. I am going into pre-med. Any opinions?
Without more information, I would recommend Duke due to nicer weather & less chance of chemicals in the air.
Personally, I would not want to live in Houston. Even though this is just for four academic years, Houston is undesirable in light of your acceptance to Duke.
Duke
Duke
I would vote Duke for the sake of just how hot and humid Houston gets. But in all seriousness putting the humidity aside Duke seems more laid back and Durham is more quirky and lastly Duke is crazy about basketball.
Definitely Rice. It is next to the biggest medical center. The quality of life for Rice students is the best.
Both are great schools. Try to attend admitted student events at both schools to see which is the best fit for you. Rice has Owl Days and admitted student days. Duke has Blue Devil Days. Another poster was facing the same decision recently. The comments in this thread might be helpful.

There are pros and cons to both! Rice has a better undergrad experience, weather, and more tight-knit intellectual community, while Duke has the better brand and school spirit. Both have great opportunities for premed, although the global difference in name and medical school on campus likely causes people with scholarships to Rice to turn it down to be a normal student at Duke. Go on fit!
Duke has medical school on campus and Rice has a medical school and world’s largest medical district next door so I don’t see any disadvantage there. As far as medical school admission, they don’t offer any preference to Duke undergrads so that’s a moot point.
Global recognition is pretty much equal but locally Duke is better known due to their sports, Greek life and medical school.
For undergrad studies, IMHO Rice is a better environment both socially and academically. In the end, it’s about your personal preference, there is no big advantage in picking one or the other.
Rice does not have its own medical school, but there are some medical schools in the adjacent medical center, such as UT and Baylor College of Medicine. The University of Houston is opening a medical school this year. Tuition at medical schools in Texas is a lot less than private medical school tuition elsewhere. https://www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/news/2017/10/30/247209/med-school-on-the-cheap-why-becoming-a-doctor-in-texas-is-a-bargain/
