Rice vs Umich

hey i have got through umich and rice for an undergrad in bioengineering as a transfer student. i am really not able to decide between the two. i feel rice is a better option ( and i prefer da hot houston weather over the freezing cold ann arbor) but umich is better ranked for my course on USNews.. (umich 7th and rice 10th) .. please help !!

Easy decision. Plan on attending Umich because you will not get into Rice from the wait list.

the OP said they got into both.

Anyways, easy decision. Go to Rice. You seem to like the general feel better there, and a difference of 3 spots in the ranking is not that much unless you are dealing with the top couple schools. Many times, the specific rankings lower down will shift dramatically between years. It would not surprise me if Rice passed UMich over the course of the next few years due to random ranking procedures.

transfertrouble – you should go to Rice if you like it better. The difference in ranking is so minimal, it is not reflective of a difference in the strength of the programs or the opportunities. Also, Rice is completing a huge bioscience collaborative research center this summer which will house bioengineering. [BioScience Research Collaborative | Home](http://www.rice.edu/brc/index.shtml) The research opportunities for undergrads have always been outstanding, and this will even make it more abundant. Go with your gut.

Go to Rice. It’s obvious you will not be able to make it through a cold winter.

These are very different schools, and both are excellent. Rice offers an outstanding college experience, and you seem to prefer it. Go to Rice and congrats on your acceptance.
