<p>It’d be nice if they’d at least tell us how many people accepted their spot on the waitlist and how many spots are open now that May 1st has passed…</p>
<p>It definitely is not too late. Yale usually makes their calls around May 9. Some schools may take a month to start calling kids. Maybe rice won’t need kids off the waitlist…</p>
<p>Just an update for anyone still sitting on the waitlist like me-</p>
<p>My school’s college counselor spoke to Rice admissions around May 4th or 5th. The rep from Rice said it was “very unclear” (his words, not mine) whether or not they would go to their waitlist this year. They were still gathering deposits and figuring out exact enrollment numbers, because everything has to be postmarked by May 1st. He said they still had to look through the class and determine if they needed more people and in what programs, plus sports recruitments make things complicated. If they were to go to the waitlist, they would do it in the month of May, but not before the 3rd week.</p>

<p>Rice usually confirms the declines by admitted students 2-3 days after deadline. So their process might be a bit longer.</p>
<p>Well, for the sake of passing time, what all did you guys send to Rice? I sent both a letter and an email, though the two were identical. Tried to be humorous. We’ll see if that worked or not. : p</p>
<p>Looks like a lot of schools won’t be using their waitlist this year, including UChicago and Amherst, those are the two I’ve heard people talk about. Idk what to expect with Rice now…</p>

<p>Wish they could’ve told us sooner; taking so long kind of led me to believe that they were using the list. Oh well. I love my college and it’s Rice’s loss for not taking us. :)</p>
