RICEEEEEEE

Hi, so I'm a senior looking for colleges in Texas to be close to family, and I really want to study international relations.
Rice doesn't have int'l relations, but what is its political science program like?
And also, what is the residential system like? How does it really distinguish Rice (and a few other schools) from all the other schools?

Realize that I’m a freshman and have been here less than a month, but I cannot speak highly enough of the residential college system. I am naturally shy and did not expect to have such close friends so quickly. Living so near to your friends is quite convenient for hanging out and group study. And I immediately have a connection with everyone else in my college; although college pride only really manifests at a few events throughout the year. I still have friends from other colleges. The system is not confining. But when I go home–to my college–I know I’m a part of a greater community.

Cant comment too much on poli sci as I have limited knowledge about the program and department. We do have the Baker Institute of Public Policy which is a leading political think tank.

As for the residential college system, it makes Rice very unique. Check out these links (including a previous topic on CC). If you have any more specific questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
