bye bye, too bad...

Don’t believe the “unlikely” Harbaugh stories. It’s been conflicting reports for weeks and ESPN is wrong all the time.

On the contrary eziamm, the fact that Harbaugh is said to be unlikely is a good sign. Usually, sources will divert attention away from the truth. I suspect there is a decent chance that JH will accept the Michigan job.

wait… hold up/… I might be wrong

It’s unofficially official. There is no way he has a job here next year.

Just like Les Miles was definitely going to accept the job back in 2008. None of those rumors are true. That is not to say he is going to accept or even make himself a candidate, but I would not trust any “report”.

He is gone. Press conference at 12:30 PM EST.

Can I watch this live anywhere?

Harbaugh is not on the card any more, so says the man himself…
“Most tellingly, Brandon himself tempered the Harbaugh buzz during Wednesday’s press conference, saying: “I personally believe he’s headed to the NFL.””

I like our AD he sounds like a really smart guy after listening to is press conference

I wouldn’t rule Harbaugh out. There’s a lot of posturing going on and a lot of behind the scenes discussions. Firing Rich Rod was the no brainer - there would have always been a cloud over him as long as he stayed at U-M and the program would deteriorate with the uncertainty. DB’s real test will be his ability to reel in the coach that brings Michigan football back to prominence.

The AD is a no nonesense, business-minded guy. He was the CEO of a major company afterall.

For all of you who believe that Harbaugh will come to UMich, sorry but that’s not going to happen.
- He has met with 49ers, the Dolphins but not Michigan.
- He is met with Stanford today
- Most of all, Luck decided to return and not go into the NFL draft. What does that mean? If Harbaugh decides to stay with college football, he will stay at Stanford, where he will have a shot at a national championship game next year, not here, where he has to make a new team.

So I would rule out Harbaugh. If Brady Hokes comes, well, lets just get ready for more loosing seasons. He as a 47-50 record. Sure he has turned around some programs but what kind? Oh yeah, those ones that you never hear of.

Well, think of it this way. Harbaugh’s goal is to be an NFL coach. He comes to Michigan, builds us up again and then in a few years he’s out the door. Not a long term solution.

I think the NFL will grant him an offer he cannot refuse. If he prefers to stay in college, he will come to Michigan. Harbaugh will not make a decision based on the next season or two but on the next 5-10 years. Michigan’s potential is excellent, and when he turns the ship around, he will be regarded as the second coming of Bo. Something else to consider is money. Michigan can and will pay him much more than Stanford. I would estimate Michigan would offer him anywhere between $4 and $5 million/year. Stanford will not pay him more than $2.5 million.

This said, I am fairly certain he will bolt to the NFL.

I’m saying is if he came here, what’s stopping him from bolting to the NFL 5 years from now?

Isn’t this the same Harbaugh that had some pretty nasty things to say about Michigan and the football program specifically? I thought he was dogging the football players academic credentials or lack of, which happens at nearly every D1 school.

I know he’s an alum, but I guess that doesn’t mean he will bolt to U-M when given the chance.

Or am I thinking of his brother? I’ll try to find the article.

That’s a good question MLDWoody. Harbaugh may feel that the current NFL teams are not ideal given their current situation and may opt for a better launching pad (turning Michigan around) before putting himself back on the market for an NFL job at which time, perhaps a more ideal NFL coaching job will be availlable.
