Rich Rod is Out

wildandyoung, it is indeed Jim Harbaugh who said negative things about Michigan. Nothing mean or untrue, simply that Michigan should raise its standards where student athletes are concerned. He firmly criticized the program, but he did not say anything mean or hurtful.

Well, Harbaugh is not going to Miami now

that just leaves Oakland, San Francisco, Denver and Stanford… and Michigan

I think Ross flew Harbaugh to Miami to tell him to take the Michigan job! ;)

I have a feeling that he isn’t going anywhere. Since Luck has decided to stay at Stanford, which for the life of me I don’t get at all, I think Harbaugh might have had a change of heart. Don’t be surprised if he stays one more year at Stanford and then bolts off to the NFL. In any case, it seems he’s not coming to Michigan.

“might be back in the picture!”

[John Elway said Broncos are slowing their chase for Jim Harbaugh - NFL - SI.com](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/nfl/01/07/harbaugh-broncos.ap/index.html?eref=sihp)

There are several working theories at the moment, none of which are perfect.

He and luck stay on at Stanford for another year to give a NC a shot. The main problem with this one is simple. If he takes Stanford on another 11-2 or 12-1 season, he is golden, but should Harbaugh lose 3 or 4 games with Luck at his side, he will lose much of his leverage. This seems like a high risk, high reward proposition. Harbaught is red hot now. I cannot imagine his getting any hotter next year, even if he has another great season at Stanford.

2) He wants to take an NFL job but does not wish to uproot his family. As such, the Broncos and Dolphins are out, but the 49ers and the Raiders are in. However, he met with the 49ers already, and if that was a serious course of action, an announcement of some sort would have been made by now.

3) He returns to Michigan with the intent of turning Michigan’s program around from its worst period since the 1960s. By doing so, he could well become the next Bo!

Under that same logic Luck should have left. Also, Stanford wouldn’t sign a one year contract. He’s probably going to San Fran.

Dolphins are out because they already rehired their coach, haha

MLDWoody, I respect Luck, but his decision was extremely naive. Very few college players have back to back seasons like the one he had this year. So many variables are required, including luck, prolonged chemistry and lack of improvement on the side of the competition.

Harbaugh, on the other hand, has a family to think about and he is entering a later stage of a coach’s career. He will think with his head, not his heart.

That said, there is a good chance he will stay at Stanford…if that is what he wants.

he met with the 49ers already, and if that was a serious course of action, an announcement of some sort would have been made by now.

Alexandre, The Niners are rumored to have upped their offer to 6 mil per season. It will be interesting to see if he CAN be bought. Let’s also NOT underestimate the Stanford boosters, who could also step forward and give Harbaugh a nice “merit increase” on his present salary. I think if Stanford “boosters” step up and get remotely close to the Niner’s offer, he stays at Stanford for a few more years. They will want to lock him up for a longer term deal, imo, so future recruiting is not adversely affected if he decides to go to the NFL in another year or two.

I think Michigan will offer him $4 million, which is a pretty sweet deal for a college gig. Will it be enough though?

so Ross, the owner of the Miami Dolphins and alum of Michigan (who donated 100 million to the business school that was named after him), flew all the way out to Cali to talk to Harbaugh but never made an offer. So either talks broke down real soon OR he was trying to convince Harbaugh to go to Michigan

It’s over. Harbaugh signed with 49ers.

Les, get 'em.

OH NO!

not Les…

Hoke is a Joke ; we need Les or someone with a brand name like Stoops.

Les is More

Personally, I’m glad Harbaugh went to the niners. If he came to Michigan, every year we would wonder if he would leave to go to the NFL. We need a coach who wants to stay at Michigan for a long time.

so… Steve Mariucci

"trey wingo

On Friday 7th January 2011, @wingoz said:

RT @judybattista: Total circus. RT @Jeff_Darlington: Not going to believe this: The news conference has been postponed indefinitely. Working on details."

maybe he changed his mind?

wait… wrong team I think

Too bad about Harbaugh. I guess we are down to Patterson, Les and Hoke. The latter would be my last choice.
