Richmond or Wake Frest?

My son just got off the wait list on both schools. Richmond last week, Wake this morning. Richmond wanted a deposit right way so we sent that. Wake called this morning and wants an answer by tomorrow!

He's coming from all boys catholic HS on L.I. Into sports, conservative, outgoing. He was originally recruited to play lacrosse at Richmond then the coach was replaced and the new coach was luke warm towards him. He can probably play club at Wake and be happy with that. He's leaning towards engineering.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated

I think richmond will be better for your son

I am pretty sure Richmond doesn’t have an engineering school!?!

Yup, UR does not have an engineering school/major!

No engineering school, but UR offers a pre-engineering track, which offers a dual degree from Columbia. Columbia is the 15th ranked grad school for engineering in the country.

[Pre-Engineering - University of Richmond School of Arts & Sciences](http://preengineering.richmond.edu/)

Realistically how many kids are going to want to leave UR after three years to start over at a completely new university for two years? I have a friend whose son is a rising junior at Richmond - he started with the intention of completing the dual engineering degree but now, two years later, he has decided not to pursue the dual degree because he doesn’t want to leave his friends - completely understandable! Instead he has decided to major in math but his mother wonders if he wouldn’t have been better off (in terms of employment and grad school opportunities) graduating from a school like Lehigh or Bucknell, excellent LA schools that also have ranked undergraduate engineering programs.
