Hello there. I am applying for Richmond Scholar Program as a Regular Decision. I have a SAT score of 1360. How much will this affect my application for Richmond Scholar Program? My A-level grades and other stats are pretty much on the path.
2017 class some one has 1580 sat, with 7 aps.
Richmond is holistic in its admissions, including for scholarships. While that is on the low side for scholars, it is by no means a deal breaker. It depends on what accomplishments and involvement you have.
I would love to know if my son is competitive for a full ride. He goes to a competitive school and takes very rigorous classes including 12 AP classes (6 this year). He is a very good athlete on a non scholarship sport and will be on the team if he attends. He plays sports year round and will be the captain of each this year according to his coaches. He is around top 15th percentile which I know will hurt him. He has a unweighted GPA of 3.72 and weighted 4.22. He scored a 34 on his ACT. He had a good internship and over 100 community service hours but not focused on one thing. Besides sports, he doesn’t have any leadership positions and nothing that that really stands out. He is on the quiz-bowl team, NHS, Key Club and a few others. Writing is his strength so his essays will be top notch. His recommendations should be very good but not wonderful. My guess is he may be competitive for a lesser scholarship but not the full ride. Thoughts? I would love to hear from someone with ties to admissions or someone in the Richmond Scholar program.
@BBooey1 You son is definitely competitive for the presidential scholar, which is 1/3 tuition. Richmond Scholars is very holistic, so they look for more than just great stats. You have to have something that stands out to receive one, often based on excellence in one or more area. For example, my scholarship is for music, and I was very accomplished in that area. My gpa was also slightly below 4.0 weighted, with all honors courses and a few APs, so it’s very much more than just stats.
@guineagirl96 thanks for your feedback. That’s what I thought but wanted to get others feedback.
