Richmond Scholars Semi-Finalist Notification

I’d like to know as well. Do only people who move on get notified?

As I recall from being involved in the process a couple of years ago, I did not receive any notification that I was not selected for the interviews. I’m pretty sure there was information in the communications that stated only those who were taking the next step would be notified by a certain date.

The wording is vague on the Richmond Scholars Semifinalists’ application page - see below - but it appears that Nelly2010 is right, and only the Finalists are notified.

Finalists will be notified by email in order to make arrangements for the required scholarship interview. The interview is typically held in mid-March. Finalists automatically qualify for a Presidential Scholarship, which is accompanied by $15,000 annually, for four years.

This is directly from the admissions blog from last year (a Q&A about Richmond Scholars): To the semi-finalists:

“Congratulations! Our faculty committees are already in the process of reviewing your semi-finalist submissions. Finalist notifications typically go out in mid-February; at this stage, all students will be notified, whether or not they advance as a finalist. Around 100 finalists will be invited to interview on campus from March 15-17.”

For everyone else eagerly awaiting news:

Got an email today saying that I’m a Science finalist! Finalists for all programs except the Artist program are being interviewed via Skype this year.

I’m a science finalist too!! Nervous about the Skype interview since I’ve never used Skype before!! Haven’t they invited finalists to campus to interview in the past?

I’m a Science Finalist as well! So excited  And I had also thought that interviews were done on campus on past years… hmm.

Oldham and Boatwright finalist! I’m so freaking happy. Does anyone know how many finalists are selected in a typical year?

Before this year, they had about 100 finalists for about 45 scholarships. But the blog post linked states that there will be a larger number of finalists this year.

Haha, I hate when they say it’s more and then don’t give a number. Have there been any estimates anywhere of the amount of finalists?

Anxiously waiting for notification of any kind. Have any international students heard from the University of Richmond, regarding their status on the Richmond Scholar’s program yet?

An international student here and University of Richmond is one the two schools I am in love with (another is UChicago)…

Boatwright Finalist!

Has anybody received an email yet saying that they haven’t advanced to the finalist round? I am still waiting for an email and am just wondering if they’re waiting to send out the bad news last. I realize that people probably wont want to broadcast if you don’t advance but I would love to know if you don’t mind sharing.

@specific I am an international and I got the email for Oldham FInalist.
Good luck to you too! :)

AND CONGRATS EVERYBODY ELSE <3

I am an international Student…

Got admitted  Boatwright and Oldham Finalist

I’m so excited and happy.

Congratulations to everybody else who got in… I hope to meet you guys soon :)

Wow!! Mmajeed1 and bluelovexD, congrats to you both… It seems highly unlikely that I will advance to another round now, since lots of internationals have already got the positive finalist notifications while I haven’t.

Another reason is that I applied only for ‘OLDHAM SCHOLARS’ and there already seems to be too many international students selected for ‘OLDHAM SCHOLARS’…

Congrats to everyone who has found out! I noticed that a lot of science scholars found out on the 17th. Do you think that if you didnt find out then it means you arnt a finalist?

so should those who haven’t been notified expect bad news?

yes, sunshine4, I fear that those who haven’t heard should be prepared for the bad news regarding the ‘Richmond Scholars Finalist notification’… I haven’t got any notification like you.

However, it is equally important to keep in mind that this doesn’t reflect our prospect of getting into University of Richmond.
