<p>The purpose of the riddle is to find out if the person has the mentality of a mass murderer. So you were supposed to leave out key parts.</p>

Truthteller will point to the exit. (because the liar will NOT point to the exit)
Ask the liar, what would the truthteller not say is not the exit?
Liar will point to the exit. (because the truthteller will NOT point to the lost road, and the liar will point to the opposite answer - the exit.)</p>

<p>That is assuming the original directions were given by a truthteller.</p>
