Thanks SField it was great to meet you guys today! Fingers crossed for both of them!

MTMajorCook-It was great meeting you guys too! Safe trip home! :)

What a great first audition for D. Got there right at 7:30 (thanks to D who didn’t finish everything last night like I told her to, so she was running around this morning), checked in and received a folder with info in it, her assigned number for the day and directed to the holding area for everyone.

There were approximately 40 perspective students, most with their parents. We sat at a table with two girls who came alone from Connecticut! My D isn’t quite there yet :). They supplied coffee, juices, water bottles, pastries and fruit bars for everyone.

The MT faculty and administration, as well as several students worked the room. They stopped at each table and answered individual questions. Got to meet the famous Robin and he is a doll! Another mother and reminded him of his cheerleaders on CC (he seemed flattered).

They took all the MTs away for a group vocal warmup, then brought them back to holding and took them four at a time to do their songs/monologues. My D was asked to do bother of her songs and just one monologue. She is sick and they did notice that (I did inform her to not go in apologizing for sickness, just go in confident and they will notice, as they did). She feels she did fairly well and they laughed at her monologue.

The boy at our table only did one song and one monologue, as well as one of the girls. The other girl was asked to do two songs and one monologue.

After everyone was seen, they changed and went to their dance call, where they did a short ballet part and a long (according to my D) jazz part. She showed me the combo and my husband and I kept saying “Fosse, Fosse” thoroughly it (we know and love Fosse style very much). She enjoyed it and said one of the Rider students told her that she danced really well. Whether it was true or not, it was definitely an ego booster, which she needed at that time.

Most girls wore dressed with heals, in all different colors. Most of the guys wore shirts and ties. All different types as well. There were also acting and dance majors there too.

We were done around 1ish and the second group had started arriving around noon (said their call time was 12:30. )

I did have a girl at our table that was a little, let’s say, show offish? Kept talking about all of her auditions, asking many, many questions of the faculty that really were not necessary (kind of statement questions like showing she knew things but wanted validation that she was right). Didn’t seem to rustle any of our feathers, but I kept thinking that the faculty may think “oh, she’s one of those”.

Left for home when the flurries started and got home to find that she got into Pace (academically) with a nice scholarship. That’s all for now.

sydsim - glad to hear she had a great first audition, I think that really carrys over to the future auditions. Congrats on the PACE academic acceptance!

sydsim - Congrats on the good first audition and on the academic acceptance!! I didn’t realize they had gone out already. My D is scheduled to audition weekend of 2/1 and has had her Pace application submitted since end of October. I am now going to go obsessively check D’s online status! lol

I was at the 7:30 audition on saturday. I’m the guy with the red bow tie for all that were there. I was asked to sing both my songs and I did one monologue. I hope that is a good thing? There were so many MTs there and the dance call was hard to fit in that one room. People were dancing on top of each other and no one was getting into a uniform line. The dance was hard coming from a non-dancer’s standpoint. The ballet combo was very simple. The jazz was just too long for my mind haha. I couldn’t remember a lot of it, but all of it was pretty doable when I looked at the current MT students. Robin is super nice and super fun and the whole process was really welcoming. I love the campus, it’s pretty. They are sending out in a week or two if we are being considered or not before they make the final decision in late february. Break legs to everyone! :)

I wouldn’t read too much into it MTfreak I heard just about every combination you can think of. My S was asked to sing both songs and did 1 monologue, the girl next to him 1 song/1 monologue, another girl both songs, both monologues and a 3rd song, S’s friend was in 12:30 group did both songs and 1 monologue. My S is a dancer and he said the jazz combo was the hardest he’s done in the 3 auditions he’s had so far! Good luck!

Congrats MTMajorCook and sydsim on good audition days for both your kids! And MTMajor-awesome save on the shorts! S is a junior so one more year to go for us, but it is great to hear all the details of the audition days so we will have some idea of what to expect next year. We especially appreciate the dance details, as S is looking for MT with a strong dance program. Rider will definitely be on his list. Really impressive that Robin Lewis sought out your S after the audition-that must have made his week! Looking forward to hearing about acceptances for both of you!

zebrarunner - I am such a nerd! I was all excited to meet Robin, told him I was a fan LOL My S probably wanted to kill me. I wasn’t even kissing his butt I am a fan! I saw my S giving Robin a look like “I am so sorry she’s harmless”

LOLOLOL @ MTMC! I did that when I met Terrance Mann. The D was at first embarassed, but stuck close so that she could meet him too! HA! I’ve NO shame!!!

OMG! I just read my post and boy were there a lot of typos! So sorry :)
