I’m from Europe and I am enrolled at UA.
My question is about housing, most of international people are going to Rose Tower, but I heard that most of the rooms were double and I really wanted a single room. So UA proposed me Ridgecrest East !</p>
<p>What about those 2 buildings ?
What is the best one ?
Is it not too complicated to not have a real kitchen in ridgecrest ?How is it working ?
I’m 20, and I wanted to know if there were only freshmen living in Rigdecrest…I mean, will I be the eldest one ?haha</p>
<p>Well just tell my the pros and cons about those 2 places, and your feelings or experiences about them !</p>

<p>Welcome, Hoona. I don’t know anything about Rose Towers, but Ridgecrest is pretty fabulous.
All of Ridgecrest is suite-style, with private bedrooms, 2 to a bathroom, and a living space shared between 4.
Ridgecrest residents have a small kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator & microwave. If you like to cook, a fully equipped kitchen is available on every other floor - first come, first served sign up as I understand it. My daughter likes to bake on occasion and this was a real draw for her.<br>
I believe Ridgecrest houses freshman through senior students. Check the UA housing web site for pictures and more information.</p>

<p>Sometimes intl students like Rose because it doesnt close at Christmas. Will that be a concern for you.</p>
<p>What about the Highlands? Is that open to new freshmen? Does that close over Christmas?</p>
<p>If Rose Towers is anything like it was when I lived there in 1988, then you don’t want to live there. The halls smell bad, and it looks like the building in which Good Times was set. That is a reference to a show from the seventies set in inner city Chicago. Go with Ridgecrest. Also, the campus master plan shows that Rose Towers will be razed to make for new dorms in the future. However, on a positive not, the higher floors do have beautiful views of the Black Warrior and campus.</p>
<p>I would go with Ridgecrest East, despite the possible extra cost. If you want to live with students from the USA, I would definitely recommend Ridgecrest East and remind housing that you really want to room with domestic students (you will have your own bedroom, but will share a bathroom (or 2), living room and kitchen with 1 or 3 other students. Oftentimes, international students are placed with other international students on certain floors of Rose Towers, but it appears that you have a choice in room assignments, so choose as you want.</p>
<p>Both dorms will probably have many students who are 19, 20, 21, or 22. While freshmen will probably be between 17 and 19, upperclassmen will be older.</p>
<p>I’ll be living in Ridgecrest West, which is just like Ridgecrest East except that it is an honors dorm. I really like living in West/East as it’s closer to many of the buildings I go to (Business Buildings, Library, Student Union, and Post Office). If you have to stay over during holiday breaks when Ridgecrest is closed, Housing does have rooms in Rose that you can move into for that time.</p>
