When following the shuttle link, came upon a link to Ridgecrest South. It says it is the newest dorm and is honors housing.

Does anyone on CC live here?

How does it compare to the other dorms like Riverside or Lakeside?

It seems to have a huge lobby, as well as a nice game room, media room, study lounge, laundry room, and community kitchen.

Are all these features in Lakeside and Riverside?

Is this dorm open to freshmen?

How is its location to the shuttle stops and the science buildings?

My younger son lives in Ridgecrest South. It is a Freshman dorm.

It just opened in August.

All the honors halls have study rooms, community kitchens, and pool tables. Some have a few differences. Riverside has a big community center with a media room, a game room, and a swimming pool (can be used by any.)

I’m not sure what every honors building exactly has in regards to differences, so it’s best to go to:
[Housing & Residential Communities - The University of Alabama](http://housing.ua.edu/hallslist.cfm)

Then scroll down to Honors, then click on each honors community, and read what’s on each page and look at each one’s video :)

Crimson Ride

As for location and shuttle stops… This map shows all the routes and stops.

Enlarge the map and look at the Gold area.

The upper area of the Gold routes is where honors housing is located.

Most or all science (and math) buildings are in the area where it says Shelby (right area of Gold) and below that point running down Hackberry (where you see it says Gordan Palmer).

Crimson Ride website: [Crimson Ride](http://crimsonride.ua.edu/)

Ridgecrest South is a good residence hall. It’s the newer version of honors housing, but some prefer the other honors residences. The gold bus is a short walk away. The green 1 route is closer, but does not go by Shelby.

When you visit the campus, check out the various honors housing locations.

Go to Riverside - head towards the area where the overhead bridge is. That’s where the honors community area is. Also walk between the buildings towards the back to get to the pool area. The back doors by the pool area head into a game room and a TV room.

BTW…Somerville has been designated Freshman only for Fall 2010. It’s a female-only dorm that is on the north side of campus near honors housing. For those girls who don’t want honors, but want to be near honors, this might be a good choice.
