We had this same issue last year. You can’t pull non-honors students into honors housing. However, you can do a room change request for the Spring semester if those students qualify for honors.

I know that technically you can’t. But, since some honors dorms had vacant rooms and non-honors students were allowed to take those rooms, then why couldn’t such suites have a mix of honors and non-honors kids in them?

I can see that you couldn’t pull a non-honors kid in during spring picking time, but maybe later in the summer when there are still vacancies in honors.

Do you know for sure if Bama is allowing that? On their website it says that you can’t move into honors if you don’t start in honors. Is Bama making some exceptions for that?

My D has friends living in Tutwiler who want to be in Honors/new housing next fall. Housing told me they would have to do a room change request to be in the new dorms in the spring IF they want to recontract for next fall. She also had a friend who got into honors at the end of the fall semester and she was able to move into honors housing since there was space available. I guess it just depends on what’s available. And you’re right, they probably do mix honor/non-honors as space dictates the closer it gets to move-in. Much easier to recontract if you are where you want to be when you start out.
